Transform an Outdoor Eyesore

, Free Cooking and BBQ Magazine

It happens, sometimes over time certain areas in your yard require your attention.

This year, for us, it was our old above ground pool area. Last year, we took down the pool. It was very old and needed to go.

This year, we found it home to old debri, weeds and remnants from the removal. It was just an eye sore.

Rather than demo the surround, we decided to do a mini DIY project. Create an Outdoor Firepit Area.

Here’s what you will need:

1. Landscape material.

2. 3/8” pea gravel (here we selected brownish red).

3. Firepit (you can make one or buy one).

4. Several chairs, tables & planters.

5. Time. Anticipate a few days to clear land, weed, lay material, shovel gravel, trim & decorate.

This  is the final result of our S’mores Pit.

There are lots of instructions and ideas on Pinterest for these types of projects.

For us, we’ll be adding a little greenery and decor and we’ll be good to go!

See you on the other side at Cool People.

Here it is, a year later and here’s what it looks like now.
