Halloween 2020 Covid Safe Party Ideas

We’ve waited all year to get back Outside and get Social. There’s no doubt our kids are desperate for, and deserving of, some fun right now. They’re missing their friends, their sporting activities, and even school. So what’s the harm in letting them put on a costume, maybe even one with a mask, and allowing them to go door to door for some reimagined Halloween trick-or-treating?

Keeping in mind mask wearing and keeping a 6 ft distance, it is still possible to have a fun Halloween with Friends, Family and Neighbors, even during a Wuhan Coronna Virus Pandemic.

Here’s How: Throw an Outdoor Party!

Start with Decorating your Front Yard and Backyard Space.

Create a Purple Pumpkin Sign that shows your participation this year. Placing a purple pumpkin out on your porch, in your window or on your lawn signifies a safe location for trick-or-treating. While this doesn’t completely ease the worries of protective parents, it certainly helps.

Create a Candy Graveyard on your Front Lawn. The concept is easy to do and gives kids a way to social distance while trick-or-treating. Set up fake tombstones in your yard with prizes and candy piled up next to each tombstone. You could have each kid enter the graveyard one at a time and package up candy and prizes into individual treat bags for extra safety.

Set up a Dining area in your Backyard for your Invited Guests. Use every corner of your yard for a separate theme – a game, contest or activity.

Plan some activities.

Host a Murder Mystery. Murder mystery games are generally party games in which one of the partygoers is secretly playing a murderer, and the other attendees must determine who among them is the criminal. In some styles of game, the murderer may be aware that they are the killer and in other games the murderer discovers this along with the other participants. Murder mystery games may involve the actual ‘murders’ of guests throughout the game, or may open with a ‘death’ and have the rest of the time devoted to investigation. we found a list of free games at The Spruce. Do Pumpkin Carving. Designate an area for pumpkin Carving. Keep a hose, basin and hand sanitizer handy for easy clean up. Save the seeds for baking later!

Serve this as an appetizer whilst you are waiting for your main meal to grill. Great Halloween food.

In a bowl, mix well:

  • 1 cup Dark Soy Sauce
  • 1/4 cup of Oyster Sauce
  • 1/4 cup of Brown sugar
  • 1 tsp Black Paste food coloring

Creepy Hotdog Fingers

Grilled Hot dogs make for an easy stress-free grill. With a little effort, it is easy to decorate these to look just like bloody fingers!

Before you grill the hotdogs trim the top of each one to resemble a finger.

When you serve add a little barbecue sauce to the cut edge of the hotdog making it look even creepier. You can also run the knife on the hot dog to make wrinkles and knuckles. A piece of cheese for fingernails. get the kids involved to help!

Dead Mans Rib Cage

Grill a few full racks of ribs. When these are ready to serve – first cut the meat from each end exposing the bone. Add a little ketchup dipping sauce in the middle to give that raw chest cavity look.

Even better if you have a toy skull place it at the top of the rack. Definitely a great start to your Ghoulish Halloween Barbecue.

Haunted Halloween Pizza’s

Mini pizza is perfect to grill for Halloween. Have a look at a previous post that will give you ideas for pizza bases and using your Barbecue to Grill the Pizza. Best Pizza’s are Grilled on the BBQ.

There are so many toppings to cleverly place on mini pizza bases that will promote that creepy Halloween feeling.

Bandaged Mummy Pizza:- Use string cheese and olives for eyes.

Ghosts of Halloweens past:- After applying the tomato base stretch chunks of mozzarella cheese into ghost shapes. Add the eyes with olives.

Spider Pizza:- Take a sharp knife and cut out spider shapes from a pitted black olive. Create Red spiders from pepperoni and sliced red peppers.

Purchase a skull-shaped pastry cutter and press out on the pizza dough. Decorate your skull before grilling on the BBQ.

Use your favorite meatloaf recipe.

Either purchase a brain-shaped mold or just get creative.

Shape the meat into a round dome the same shape as the brain. Use a knife to make an indent down the middle of the brain. Carve some squiggly lines around the brain.

Place the meatloaf brain in a heavy-duty aluminum pan.

Grill the meatloaf brain on the grill using indirect heat for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, or until it registers at least 160* F on an instant-read thermometer. 160* F is the minimum safe temperature for ground meat.

Before serving your meatloaf brain glaze with a tomato-based barbecue sauce for that bloody effect!
