BBQ Review: Stonewall Barbecue – Oakgrove, MS

The star of the plate was the smoked chicken. Wow, it was a perfectly smoked bird. The chicken was tender, moist, and delicious. I was a little saddened when I had exhausted all that was in my meal, and again, it was a full leg quarter. The rub added a good crisp to the meat’s juicy, succulent texture.

Prepare to have your jaw drop to the floor. There are so many times I was blown away at this restaurant that I stopped counting. First, I’ve got to comment on the building. You’re going to drive up and say, “wait…is this really the place?” I can’t tell you how many times that has led me to a stellar dining experience and Leatha’s was no exception.

For a chain restaurant, Dickey’s does a pretty good job of keeping it real. Real barbecue. Walking in, you’re greeted with the savory smells of smoke. There’s the first test passed. I felt the menu from which to order was in a slightly incoherent order, but that has nothing to do with the food.
